Why biscotti need their own box shape
A biscotto is usually four to six inches long and under an inch wide. In a square box, the slices slide around and the ends snap.
A long narrow box holds them side by side, like books on a shelf. Nothing moves, so the crisp edges arrive whole.
The shape also suits how biscotti are sold. They sit next to the coffee machine, on a cafe shelf or in a gift basket, where a slim box takes little room.
Coffee roasters, Italian bakeries and specialty food shops are our most common biscotti customers. Home bakers selling at markets are close behind.
If you sell other long or flat bakes too, our guide on packaging cookies for retail sale covers labels and shelf life.
