What empty means on this page

Every box we make leaves us empty, but this page is for buyers who want a stock of printed boxes to fill on their own schedule. You order once, store them flat and fold them as you need them.

That suits home bakers who sell on weekends, event bakers filling a big order once a month and shops that want packaging on hand before a busy season.

Empty boxes can be fully printed, printed with just a logo, or left mostly plain kraft with one small mark. The choice comes down to how many uses the box has to cover.

The aim is a box you never run out of and never have to think about on a bake day.

Most stock buyers pick one main box and one smaller size. Between them they cover nearly every order without a shelf full of half-used cartons.

Box styles that ship flat

All of these arrive flat in cartons, so a few hundred boxes fit on one shelf. Pick the style by how fast you need to fold it and how the customer opens it.

Here is how they compare when you are the one folding them. If you sell at markets alone, fold speed matters more than any finish. Every style here is also offered on our printed paper cookie boxes page.

Folding a flat box quickly

Flat boxes come with crease lines already pressed in. Folding takes seconds once you have done a few.

Fold a test box the day the carton arrives. It confirms the size and tells you how many you can fold in an hour before a big order.

For a large event, fold boxes the evening before and stack them nested by size. Filling goes much faster when every box is already standing.

  1. Lay the flat box print side down on a clean, dry surface.
  2. Fold the side walls up along the creases.
  3. Fold in the corner flaps and lock them under the end panels.
  4. Add any insert or divider before the cookies go in.
  5. Fill, close the lid or tuck flap, and add a sticker seal if you use one.

Storing flat stock between orders

Paperboard does not like damp air. Keep cartons off the floor, away from the dishwasher and oven, and closed until you need them.

Store boxes flat, not on edge. Boxes standing on edge for weeks can bow, and bowed board folds unevenly.

Rotate stock so older boxes are used first. A clean, dry shelf keeps printed boxes looking new for a long time.

Leave the top carton open only on the day you fold. Dust and flour settle on exposed boxes faster than most bakers expect.

Write the delivery month on each carton with a marker. When you reorder, you can see how long a run actually lasted and size the next one to match your real pace.

One box, many uses

An empty box you keep in stock has to work for many orders. Neutral artwork stretches further than a design built for one holiday.

If you want a ready size to start from, our standard cookie boxes in common sizes cover the counts most bakers sell.

These are the most common ways customers use one stocked design:

  • Weekend market packs of four or six cookies
  • Gift boxes with a seasonal sticker added on the lid
  • Party favors with a name tag tied on
  • Wholesale packs for cafes, with a flavor label on the end
  • Sample boxes for new flavors or tasting events

Light print or full coverage

Full coverage printing looks bold but shows every scuff. A white or kraft box with a single logo hides small marks and suits more occasions.

Kraft board with white ink is the simplest option for a stocked box. It looks natural, takes stickers well and works for any season.

For a crisp, clean look, a white SBS box with one Pantone color is a strong choice. Our custom white cookie boxes show how far a single color goes.

Printing inside the lid is another way to keep the outside plain and still brand the box. The customer sees your message the moment the box opens.

Liners, inserts and small extras

An empty box usually needs something inside to make it look full. Tissue, paper liners, cupcake cups and paperboard inserts all help.

Inserts hold cookies in fixed spots, so you never have a half-empty look when an order is short by one. Our cookie boxes with printed inserts show the options.

If cookies will sit directly on the board, ask about food-contact grade materials. Tell us how you line the box so we match the material to it.

A sheet of printed tissue folded over the top is the cheapest upgrade. It covers the cookies and makes an everyday box feel like a gift.

Sizing before you stock up

Buying ahead means living with one size for a while. Get it right by testing with your real cookies before ordering.

Bake a batch, lay out the count you sell most and measure length, width and height with a little room. Smaller packs can go in our small cookie boxes for two to four.

If you sell two counts, order two sizes instead of one large box with filler. Two well-chosen sizes fit on one shelf.

Empty box mistakes to avoid

Buying ahead saves time, but a wrong choice stays on the shelf for months. These are the issues we flag on stock orders.

The common thread is planning for one order instead of a full season. Picture the box in six months, holding a different flavor, before you approve it.

  • Printing a holiday design on a box meant for all year
  • Storing cartons on the floor near the sink
  • Ordering one large size for every pack count
  • Choosing full dark coverage that shows scuffs from storage
  • Skipping a test fold before the first big order

Proof, timing and delivery

Your free digital proof shows the flat box with every crease and panel marked. Make as many changes as you like before approving.

Stocked box runs come off the press 4 to 6 business days after you approve, then spend 2 to 3 business days with the carrier. Delivery is free to bakers in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

Open and check every carton when it lands, not months later when you reach the bottom of the stack. Faults flagged within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. Our guide to packaging cookies for sale also covers labels for stocked boxes.

Empty cookie box pricing starts from $0.30 per unit. Style, size, board, quantity and print coverage decide the final number.

Empty Cookie Boxes: questions

Do empty cookie boxes arrive folded?

No. They arrive flat with creases pressed in, ready for you to fold.

Can I order empty boxes with just a logo?

Yes. Many bakers choose kraft or white board with one logo so the box suits every season.

How should I store flat boxes?

Keep them flat, dry and off the floor, away from steam and sinks.

Which style folds fastest?

Tuck end and window lid boxes fold in a few moves. Lid and base boxes take two folds.

Can I add a window to empty boxes?

Yes. A die-cut opening with clear PET film is fitted before the boxes are packed flat, so there is nothing extra to attach.

Do you supply inserts with empty boxes?

Yes. Paperboard inserts and dividers can be printed and cut to fit.

Can I print inside the lid?

Yes. Inside printing lets you keep the outside plain while still branding the box.

Should I buy one size or several?

Order one size for each pack count you sell. A single large box with filler looks half empty.

Can cookies sit directly on the board?

Ask for food-contact grade materials and tell us how you line the box.

How long does a stock order take?

From sign-off, stocked boxes need 4 to 6 business days to print and another 2 to 3 business days on the road.

What if boxes arrive crushed?

Photograph the cartons and the boxes inside, then tell us within 10 days. Faulty stock is reprinted or refunded.

How much do empty cookie boxes cost?

Pricing starts from $0.30 per unit. Style, size, board and quantity set the final price.
