Who Mails Cookies in a Printed Mailer

Online cookie shops are the main buyers. Every order leaves the kitchen in a mailer, so the box is the first physical contact a customer has with the brand.

Monthly cookie clubs use mailers because subscribers open the same box every few weeks. A printed interior makes each delivery feel planned.

Bakeries that ship gift orders for local customers order them as well. A branded mailer arriving at a relative's door does more than a plain brown carton.

Corporate gifting teams that send cookies to clients ask for mailers with both logos. A printed sleeve or sticker can carry the client name.

Most of these sellers also stock bags for local pickup orders. Our cookie and bakery bag collection can share the mailer artwork.

Mailer Box or Plain Shipping Carton

A mailer is a one piece corrugated box with a hinged lid and tuck front. It opens like a book and shows the inside print straight away.

A regular shipping carton opens with top flaps and is usually plain. It protects well but does little for presentation.

If you only need a plain outer carton to hold printed boxes, compare this page with our corrugated cookie shipping boxes. Many sellers use mailers for direct orders and plain cartons for wholesale.

Mailers usually need no tape on the inside. A strip of tape or a seal sticker on the front tuck holds them shut in transit.

Because the lid lifts in one motion, mailers suit sellers who film unboxing videos or ask customers to share photos.

Mailer Sizes by Order Type

Size your mailer around what goes inside it, not around the cookies alone. Inner boxes, bags, padding and a card all take room.

These are the setups we build most often.

One well sized mailer can cover several order types if your inner boxes share a footprint. Fewer sizes mean simpler storage and faster packing.

Printing the Inside of the Lid

The inside lid is the panel customers see as they open the box. Most of our mailer buyers print a short message there.

Keep the outside simple if you want. A logo on the lid with a full color inside often costs less than heavy coverage outside and looks just as strong on video.

Write the inside message so it still makes sense months later. Avoid dates or offers that expire before your stock runs out.

  • A thank you line with your logo
  • Storage tips, such as how long cookies stay fresh
  • Warm up instructions for soft cookies
  • Your social handle and a reorder web address
  • A repeating pattern in brand colors across the inside base

Keeping Cookies Still Inside the Mailer

A mailer protects against crushing, but cookies can still slide around inside it. Movement is what chips edges and cracks icing.

Paperboard inserts and dividers stop that movement. For decorated sets, a cut cavity tray works best, and our page on cookie boxes with fitted inserts shows how those are laid out.

For simpler orders, crinkle paper or tissue filling every gap does the job. The goal is that nothing moves when you shake the closed box.

Wrapped cookies also hold up better than bare ones. Each film or pouch acts as a small cushion.

Avoid foam peanuts with food orders. They cling to wrappers, scatter on the customer's table and feel cheap next to printed packaging.

Following the same order every time keeps packing fast and cuts down on broken cookie complaints.

Set up a packing station with mailers on one side and filled inner packs on the other. Work left to right so finished boxes never cross unpacked stock.

  1. Fold the mailer and add any insert or divider.
  2. Place wrapped cookies or the inner box in the center.
  3. Fill every gap with tissue or crinkle paper until nothing shifts.
  4. Add the card or packing slip on top, under the lid message.
  5. Close the tuck, seal the front and shake gently to test for movement.

Kraft or White Corrugated

Kraft corrugated looks natural and hides scuffs from sorting machines. White ink and one strong color print cleanly on it.

White corrugated gives brighter full color artwork. It also shows dirt and tire marks from conveyors more easily.

Many sellers choose a kraft outside with a printed white inside. The box looks modest in a mail pile and bright when opened.

Aqueous coating adds some scuff resistance to the outside. Lamination gives more, which helps for mailers that travel long distances.

Ask for a printed proof photo if color accuracy matters. Ink on corrugated looks slightly softer than on smooth paperboard.

Ordering a mailer that is much bigger than the contents is common. Extra space means extra fill and more chance for cookies to move.

Another is printing fine detail across fold lines. Corrugated folds can crack ink along the bend, so we keep text off those lines on the proof.

Some sellers forget their own label. Leave a clear panel on top for the shipping label so it never covers your logo.

Finally, test one packed mailer by shipping it to yourself. Our guide to shipping cookies so they arrive whole lists what to check when it lands.

Mailers for Bags and Pouches

Not every shipped order uses an inner box. Many sellers mail cookies in resealable pouches straight inside the mailer.

Pouches keep cookies fresh and protect them from crumbs and moisture. Our custom cookie mylar bags fit neatly into shallow mailers in rows.

Lay pouches flat and pack them snugly side by side. Standing them upright invites bending if the box is dropped on an edge.

For mixed flavors, alternate pouch colors in the row so the open box looks deliberate.

Add a printed sticker to each pouch with the flavor. Customers can then grab one pouch without opening the rest.

Timing Your Mailer Order

Plan around your launch or busy season. Proofs come first, and you can revise them as often as you need at no charge.

Once you sign off, your mailers spend 4 to 6 business days on press and 2 to 3 more with the carrier. Our shipping policy for packaging orders explains delivery to each country.

Mailers take more storage room than folding cartons because corrugated is thicker. Check your shelf space before you order a full season of stock.

Keep mailers off cold concrete floors. A pallet or shelf stops them absorbing moisture.

If you run a holiday or Valentine's push, order mailers before your seasonal inner boxes. The mailer usually stays the same all year while inner packaging changes.

Mailer pricing starts from $0.30 per unit. Corrugated grade, size, print coverage, quantity and finish all move the number, and your quote breaks it down.

Cookie Mailer Boxes: questions

What is the difference between a mailer and a shipping box?

A mailer is a one piece corrugated box with a hinged lid and tuck front, often printed. A shipping box opens with flaps and is usually plain.

Can you print inside the mailer?

Yes. Inside lid and inside base printing are the most popular upgrades for cookie mailers.

Do mailers need tape?

They hold together without tape inside. Most sellers add one strip or a seal sticker on the front tuck for transit.

Can I add an insert to a mailer?

Yes. Paperboard inserts and dividers fit inside the mailer to stop cookies sliding.

Should I pick kraft or white corrugated?

Kraft hides scuffs and suits simple designs. White gives brighter full color but shows marks more easily.

How do I stop cookies breaking in the mailer?

Wrap each cookie, fill every gap and make sure nothing moves when you shake the closed box.

Can the mailer fit a printed cookie box inside?

Yes. We size the mailer just larger than your inner box so it sits snugly.

Where should the shipping label go?

Leave a clear panel on top for it. We mark that area on your proof.

Will printing crack on the folds?

Corrugated folds can crack ink along the bend. We keep text and fine detail off fold lines.

Can cookies sit bare in the mailer?

Food-contact grade materials are available on request, but most sellers wrap or bag cookies before they go in.

Do the mailers arrive flat?

Yes. They ship flat and fold into shape without glue.

How long does a mailer order take?

Production takes 4 to 6 business days after proof approval, and transit takes 2 to 3 business days.
