Built for oversized, topped cookies

Crumble style cookies are wide, thick and often chilled. Many carry a swirl of frosting, a drizzle or a pile of crumb that cannot touch anything.

A standard cookie box is too shallow for that. The lid presses on the topping, and the customer opens a smeared box.

We plan these boxes from the top of the topping down. The lid sits clear, the cookie lies flat, and each slot holds one cookie without sliding.

Our crumble box buyers are mostly gourmet cookie shops, dessert trucks, weekly drop bakeries and pop-up stands selling in fours and sixes.

Because the cookies are the star, the box usually stays simple in shape. The effort goes into height, slot width and a lid that opens cleanly for the first bite.

Single, four-pack and six-pack layouts

Most shops sell in a few fixed counts. Pick the counts you sell every week and build one box for each, rather than one box with a lot of empty space.

The long, single-row style is what customers expect from a gourmet cookie shop. It also stacks well in a takeout bag.

Two rows of three save length but hide half the toppings. Most shops keep the single row for display packs and use two rows for office orders.

LayoutHow cookies sitTypical use
SingleOne cookie in a square boxWalk-in buyers and add-on sales
Two-packTwo cookies side by sideDate night and sampler orders
Four-packFour in one long rowThe weekly flavor lineup
Six-packSix in one row or two rows of threeOffice orders and parties
Party boxTwo rows with a center dividerLarge group orders

Measure finished cookies, not dough balls. A cookie that spreads one extra centimeter in the oven needs a wider slot than the one you planned.

Use the tallest flavor on your menu to set the box height. A flat sugar cookie and a frosted stack need the same lid if they share a box.

Summer batches often spread wider than winter ones, so measure on a warm day if you can.

  1. Bake one tray of your widest flavor and your tallest topped flavor.
  2. Measure the diameter of the widest cookie at its edge.
  3. Measure the height from the base to the peak of the tallest topping.
  4. Add room above the topping so the lid never touches it.
  5. Send both numbers and the counts you sell, and we plan the layout.

Butter, frosting and chilled cookies

Gourmet cookies are rich. Butter and frosting will mark bare paperboard within hours, leaving dark rings under each cookie.

A laminated or coated inside surface resists those marks much better than plain board. Some shops also place a small paper pad under each cookie.

Chilled cookies sweat a little when they warm up. A box with a window gives that moisture a smooth surface rather than soaking into the lid art.

If cookies will touch the inside of the box, ask us about food-contact grade board. Tell us how they are placed and whether a pad goes underneath.

Selling single cookies over the counter too? Our grease-resistant paper bakery bags handle a warm cookie in a napkin-style sleeve faster than a box.

Window lids that show the toppings

The topping is often the reason someone picks a flavor. A PET film window across the lid lets people choose before they open the box.

Keep the window slightly smaller than the row of cookies, so the printed border frames them. A window that runs edge to edge weakens the lid.

For a full box view of oversized cookies, compare our large cookie boxes with deeper bases. They suit cookies that are taller than they are wide.

If your toppings melt in a warm car, skip the window on summer flavors. A solid lid hides a soft swirl better than film does.

Handling at the counter and in delivery

Gourmet cookie shops move fast at opening and after school. The box needs to fold quickly and close firmly with one hand.

Delivery apps add another risk, since drivers tip bags on scooter seats. A fitted center wall, like the ones on our cookie boxes with built-in dividers, keeps a six-pack row from shifting.

These habits keep the cookies in place from counter to doorstep.

  • Fold a batch of boxes before opening, not during the rush
  • Place cookies straight down instead of sliding them in
  • Use a center divider in six-packs so the row cannot shift
  • Close tuck lids fully until you hear the flap seat
  • Ask drivers to keep the box flat in the bag

Branding a long box

The long lid is your biggest print area. A bold logo at one end with a flavor panel at the other works better than one centered mark.

Pink, black and pastel lids are popular for this style, and full color CMYK or a Pantone match keeps your shade exact. Our custom pink cookie boxes show how a strong single color reads on a shelf.

Printing inside the lid is worth considering. Customers often film the reveal, and the inside lid is what the camera catches. A short line or your handle there costs little extra space.

Rotating flavors without new boxes

Many gourmet shops change flavors every week. Printing a new box each time is slow and wasteful.

Instead, keep one branded box and add a small printed flavor card or sticker. Your box stays the same, and only the card changes.

Leave a blank panel on the lid or end flap for the flavor sticker. Without that space, stickers end up over the logo.

If you want the artwork done for you, our free cookie box design help can build the box and matching flavor cards together.

Crumble box mistakes we catch on proofs

These come up most when a shop moves from plain stock boxes to its own printed design. Each is simple to change before printing.

Bring a finished cookie of each flavor to the measuring step and most of this list never happens. The rest gets spotted when you hold a paper print of the proof over a real tray.

  • Setting the lid height from the flattest flavor on the menu
  • Making slots too tight for cookies that spread in summer heat
  • Using bare board inside under buttery cookies
  • Running the window to the very edge of the lid
  • Ordering one box size for every count you sell

Proof, timing and freight

We send a free digital proof showing the lid, base and slots. Revisions are unlimited until you approve it.

Your crumble boxes go to press once you approve and are ready in 4 to 6 business days, then spend 2 to 3 business days on the road. There is no freight charge for delivery to the US, UK, Canada or Australia.

Lead times for launches and holiday drops are covered on our frequently asked packaging questions. If a crumble box run lands crushed or misprinted, flag it inside 10 days for a reprint or refund.

Quotes for crumble boxes begin at $0.30 per unit. Layout, board grade, run size and finish move the final number, and we can quote several pack counts side by side.

Crumble Cookie Boxes: questions

What is a crumble cookie box?

It is a long, shallow box for oversized gourmet cookies, usually one cookie per slot. The lid is set high enough to clear frosting and toppings.

Which pack sizes can you make?

We make single, two-pack, four-pack and six-pack layouts, plus larger party boxes with a center divider.

How tall should the box be for frosted cookies?

Measure from the base to the top of your tallest topping, then add room so the lid never touches it.

Will butter soak through the box?

Bare board marks quickly. A laminated or coated inside surface, or a paper pad under each cookie, resists butter marks.

Can I add a window to see the toppings?

Yes. A PET film window over the lid shows the toppings while the printed border frames the row.

Can you print inside the lid?

Yes. Inside lid printing shows up well when customers open the box on camera.

Do I need a new box for every flavor?

No. Keep one branded box and add a printed flavor card or sticker for weekly flavors.

Can I get pink or black crumble boxes?

Yes. We print full color CMYK or match a Pantone shade to your brand color.

How do I stop cookies sliding in delivery?

Use a center divider in six-packs and ask drivers to keep the box flat.

How long does a crumble box order take?

Allow 4 to 6 business days on press from your sign-off. The boxes then reach your shop in 2 to 3 business days.

What if the boxes arrive damaged?

Send photos of the crushed or misprinted boxes within 10 days. We will reprint the run or refund it.

How much do crumble cookie boxes cost?

Pricing starts from $0.30 per unit. Layout, board, quantity and finish set the exact price.
